AN EFFORT TO FIT EMOTIONS IN WORDS.....

Hello Friends,             Sharing my small poem with you all. I hope you will enjoy reading this. Suggestions and Interpretations  by you all are most welcome.                        Two  sudden  booms in the sky,            A sudden appearance of stars            And a hasty disappearance as if shy.            Two clouds of smoke left alone,            Away from the earth.            One chasing another,            And merging forever....             In the silence of the sky.                                                   - (@Angel)                                           VAIDEHI HARIYANI  Please give your suggestions for the appropriate title  for this poem. Thank You

BOOK REVIEW- "THE ALCHEMIST" BY PAULO COELHO

Few days back while going through the collection of my books, my eyes got stuck on one of my most favourite book ‘The Alchemist’ by Paulo Coelho, a Brazilian writer. This amazing book kept me busy last week. This is a novel of a shepherd boy Santiago, who has a dream and courage to follow it. It is a journey of exploration and self-discovery. The boy goes on a venture to pursue his dream, symbolically searching for a hidden treasure located near the pyramids in Egypt. In his journey he meets many exciting people like the alchemist who helps him in finding his way.  I love the end of the novel because it is never-ending. At the end Santiago discovers that “treasure lies where your heart belongs”. The treasure is in the journey itself. In real life also we can feel that happiness lies in the journey rather than reaching to any particular spot. Here I recall a dialogue from the Bollywood film ‘HIGHWAY’ by Imtiaz Ali, where “veera” the protagonist speaks the follow

ESSAY ON TECHNOLOGY- RAJATRANG 2015 YOUTH FESTIVAL SELECTION

Rajatrang 2015 Youth Festival Selection                              Essay Competition    “Growth of technology is beneficiated or harmful”          Technology plays a vital role in today’s modern world. It has made life easier and flexible. It has made the world a global village. As we say “Every coin has two sides”, technology also has positive and negative side effects. Positive or negative, but technology is going to be everywhere around us.           Technology has made travelling very easy and speedy. In ancient times, people used horse-carts, bullock-carts etc. to travel. In those days, travelling was more time consuming. With the invention of metro trains, aircrafts, cars etc. travelling has become easy and comfortable. If we look at the other side of this invention, we see that people has also become lazy. Most of them avoid walking to a short distance also. Youngsters are always seen on scooter or bike. They avoid cycling or even walking. This

AN INTRODUCTION :- KAMALA DAS

Hello everyone , I  would like to share one of my favourite poem 'An Introduction' by Kamala Das. AN INTRODUCTION I don't know politics but I know the names Of those in power, and can repeat them like Days of week, or names of months, beginning with Nehru. I am Indian, very brown, born in Malabar, I speak three languages, write in Two, dream in one. Don't write in English, they said, English is Not your mother-tongue. Why not leave Me alone, critics, friends, visiting cousins, Every one of you? Why not let me speak in Any language I like? The language I speak, Becomes mine, its distortions, its queernesses All mine, mine alone. It is half English, halfIndian, funny perhaps, but it is honest, It is as human as I am human, don't You see? It voices my joys, my longings, my Hopes, and it is useful to me as cawing Is to crows or roaring to the lions, it Is human speech, the speech of the mind that is Here and not there, a mind that sees and h

Seminar on Women Empowerment..........REALLY?

NOTE:- This article is my personal experience about a seminar on “Women Empowerment”. In this article , I have mentioned names of only those , whose names are deserved to be taken . What is the point of such seminars ? Why are these type of programmes organised ?  I am really confused whether this seminar was to support women or to suppress them . Many of the dignitaries spoke about progress of women like how many of them have taken admission in various fields etc . Everything was going very smoothly , but as soon as my senior  Ms.Bhumi Joshi showed them the reality , it  fell like an axe on their frozen heart . Suddenly the whole scenario changed . Our honourable vice-chancellor showed us the map of behaviour , with reference to The Ramayana . I guess he must have forgotten that this is 21 st century . Things have changed now . I have always heard people saying that education makes a person rational , practical and broad-minded . I don’t think its always true . Maturi

IRA SINGHAL : DISABILITY IS NOT A HURDLE

Ira Singhal is no ordinary woman . The 31-year-old recently topped India's tough civil services examination , but this is not the only reason that she has become an inspiration in local media .     She is suffering from "Scoliosis" , an abnormal curvature of the spine . This is a story of a girl who never compromised with the difficult situations . She is an engineer with an MBA . Due to her disability she had to face many problems .      As they were financially broke , her parents could not give her proper medical treatment . In 2011 too , she cleared the examination but was refused a posting because of her disability . It was a big disappointment , but decided to fight back . She battled discrimination and conquered disability to eventually top the country's most prestigious examination . When the results were announced , she got a call from the top officials of the Department of Personnel and Training , who in 2011 had denied her posting .

Book Review: BEAUTIFUL CHAOS by Robert.M.Drake

Book Review: BEAUTIFUL CHAOS by Robert.M.Drake I had only found out about Robert.M.Drake by accidently visiting his Instagram page. Then I found out that he had written many books and decided to grab at least one of his books. And got BEAUTIFUL CHAOS. The title itself is so beautiful. Robert.M.Drake is a self-published writer. He is from Miami. He became popular not through the publicity of big publishing house but through social media. He has a huge fan following on Instagram , Facebook and Twitter. This book in particular is a beautiful collection of poems and thoughts. It draws you into his mentality and makes you never want to leave. He writes of love and life so passionately,as if the emotion and experience are sacred things to be treasured at all times. It is quite short I finished reading it in one sitting, but left a huge impression. I think , people can relate themselves with it. The way he plays with words is just amazing. In one word I can say this book is so
