“Growth of technology is beneficiated or harmful”

Technology plays a vital role in today’s modern world. It has made life easier and flexible. It has made the world a global village. As we say “Every coin has two sides”, technology also has positive and negative side effects. Positive or negative, but technology is going to be everywhere around us.

Technology has made travelling very easy and speedy. In ancient times, people used horse-carts, bullock-carts etc. to travel. In those days, travelling was more time consuming. With the invention of metro trains, aircrafts, cars etc. travelling has become easy and comfortable. If we look at the other side of this invention, we see that people has also become lazy. Most of them avoid walking to a short distance also. Youngsters are always seen on scooter or bike. They avoid cycling or even walking. This causes many health issues.

Today’s food habits are the major cause of disease. People are so busy that they don’t get time to go in a park for a walk. Technology again made an invention for the comfort of the people by introducing treadmill or many gym instruments. We can easily manage our work and get some time to exercise and maintain ourselves. Technology has played a special role in advancement of medical field also. The heart, liver and kidney transplant is possible. In past, many people died due to lack of facilities like this. Even many new born babies and their mother used to die at the time of delivery. Now we see with the progress of medical field the death ratio is reduced. The cure of the cancer disease was not possible before few years, now we see it is curable by many therapies.

Education field has highly progressed with the advancement of the technology. Students and teachers use many sources from the internet to gain knowledge for different subjects. Search engines like Google provide all the information within few seconds. Children in school learn things more quickly through E-learning. The audio-visual helps them to grasp the things more quickly than books. The use of internet makes them smart. People often say that internet has spoiled the children. They also fear that they might see bad things on the internet. Internet makes children lazy as far as going out in the nature is concerned, but we see from the study perspective children can learn many things from internet. Many security systems have also been developed through which you can see what your child is browsing, for example “Quick-Heal” application.

Technology has made life easier for everyone including the old people also. Earlier people had to stand in a queue for paying bills, deposit money in a bank or booking tickets. Now all these things can be done online within a few seconds. Mobile and computers are a boon for people. First letters and cards were used for our near and dear ones in our own country or abroad. Thanks to technology it has become easy to contact our loved ones through Skype and other applications. You can also socially connect to people through Facebook, Instagram or Whatsapp. Youngsters are specially addicted to smart phones. We see a limitation here that they remain constantly busy on phone and don’t participate in conversation with everyone.

In military field also we can see immense use of technology. Soldiers used to fly missiles and now we see robots have taken place of soldiers. As a result, many lives can be saved. Technology is progressed in every field from farming to astronomy. It has attracted everyone from a small kid to an aged person. Technology can be observed everywhere around us like T.V, I – Phone, laptops etc.

It is hard to conclude whether technology is good or bad. Its use is beneficial or harmful. Some people say it is good and some say it is bad. Think about it. You can make it a good or bad thing. Technology can cure cancer or it can cause cancer. It is up to an individual how to make use of it. Excessive use of anything is always harmful. So, technology should be used in a proper way.

"RIP"; Rest in Peace those who are Alive....

Hello Friends, After a long time I am writing here. Hope you all are fine. This time I have come up with a different interpretation of the phrase “RIP”. Mostly this phrase “RIP”; Rest in Peace is used for the people who are no more. We use this phrase to give sympathy towards the departed soul. The soul may get peace wherever it travels. No one exactly knows where the soul travels. Sometimes this phrase is used out of care and sometimes just for show off on social media. While sitting alone near a cemetery, a thought struck in my mind. Why do we use RIP only for dead people????? We can also use it for those who are alive. Many time people use RIP when a person is dead. The same people might have harassed the dead person when he is alive. So what’s the point of “RIP”? Suppose in the day time you behave very badly with someone. Is he/she going to get sound and peaceful sleep at night? The dead person will never come back so we just say “RIP”. Of course ever

“My friend, the things that do attain” - Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey.

Hello friends, I would like to share a poem which I studied during my graduation. The title of the poem is “My friend, the things that do attain”. It is written by Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey. Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey (1516/1517 – 19 January 1547), was an English aristocrat, and one of the founders of English Renaissance poetry. MY friend, the things that do attain The happy life be these, I find: The riches left, not got with pain; The fruitful ground; the quiet mind; The equal friend; no grudge; no strife; No charge of rule, nor governance; Without disease, the healthy life; The household of continuance; The mean diet, no dainty fare; Wisdom joined with simpleness; The night discharged of all care, Where wine the wit may not oppress: The faithful wife, without debate; Such sleeps as may beguile the night; Content thyself with thine estate, Neither wish death, nor fear his might. In the above mentioned poem, there is a list

" The Winged Word"- David Green

In my Graduation syllabus, I had a book named “ The Winged word”. This anthology is edited by David Green. It is anthology of poems compiled for the students of English literature in the B.A courses of Indian Universities. The chronological order, in which the poets are arranged in this book, helps the students to note the development of English poetry from one age to another. Referring to this book after a long time span, gives me a immense joy. There are many poems in this book. We were given some selected poems to study during three years of graduation. The poems which were in my syllabus are as follow:-    1.)   I Find No Peace – Sir Thomas Wyatt (1503-42)    2.) My Friend, the Things That Do Attain –Henry Howard (1517- 47)    3.) The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd –Sir Walter Ralegh (1552-1618)    4.) The Nightingale – Sir Philip Sidney (1554- 86)    5.) Since There’s No Help – Michael Drayton (1563- 1613)    6.)
