Hello friends, I would like to share a poem “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” by Sir Walter Raleigh. I studied this poem during my graduation. Sir Walter Raleigh was an English landed gentleman, writer, poet, soldier, politician, courtier, spy and explorer. Raleigh was one of the most notable figures of the Elizabethan era. Before knowing something about this poem, it is necessary to read the poem “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” by Christopher Marlowe. Sir Walter Raleigh wrote this poem as a reply to Christopher Marlowe's poem, “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” . Let us see both the poems together. In Marlowe's poem, the shepherd flatters his love by making promises of an ideal life and all sorts of material things and advantages. In this poem the nymph replies the shepherd.
