Language is an important factor of any culture. Without that Communication is not possible. But then to communicate in a particular you need to know basic structure of that Language. In order to master any language, it is necessary to develop our Vocabulary. The richer is the Vocabulary, the more accurate is our language.

What is Vocabulary?

According Merriam Webster’s Dictionary,

· list or collection of words or of words and phrases usually alphabetically arranged and explained or defined : lexicon

· a sum or stock of words employed by a language, group, individual, or work or in a field of knowledge

· a list or collection of terms or codes available for use (as in an indexing system)

· a supply of expressive techniques or devices (as of an art form)

Here is a presentation on few English words which are used at daily basis, but we as learners are not aware.

"RIP"; Rest in Peace those who are Alive....

Hello Friends, After a long time I am writing here. Hope you all are fine. This time I have come up with a different interpretation of the phrase “RIP”. Mostly this phrase “RIP”; Rest in Peace is used for the people who are no more. We use this phrase to give sympathy towards the departed soul. The soul may get peace wherever it travels. No one exactly knows where the soul travels. Sometimes this phrase is used out of care and sometimes just for show off on social media. While sitting alone near a cemetery, a thought struck in my mind. Why do we use RIP only for dead people????? We can also use it for those who are alive. Many time people use RIP when a person is dead. The same people might have harassed the dead person when he is alive. So what’s the point of “RIP”? Suppose in the day time you behave very badly with someone. Is he/she going to get sound and peaceful sleep at night? The dead person will never come back so we just say “RIP”. Of course ever...

In my Graduation syllabus, I had a book named “ The Winged word”. This anthology is edited by David Green. It is anthology of poems compiled for the students of English literature in the B.A courses of Indian Universities. The chronological order, in which the poets are arranged in this book, helps the students to note the development of English poetry from one age to another. “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” - Sir Walter Raleigh.

Hello friends, I would like to share a poem “The Nymph’s Reply to the Shepherd” by Sir Walter Raleigh. I studied this poem during my graduation. Sir Walter Raleigh was an English landed gentleman, writer, poet, soldier, politician, courtier, spy and explorer. Raleigh was one of the most notable figures of the Elizabethan era. Before knowing something about this poem, it is necessary to read the poem “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” by Christopher Marlowe. Sir Walter Raleigh wrote this poem as a reply to Christopher Marlowe's poem, “The Passionate Shepherd to His Love” . Let us see both the poems together. In Marlowe's poem, the shepherd flatters his love by making promises of an ideal life and all sorts of material things and advantages. In this poem the nymph replies the shepherd.
