Treat!!!
Before I
start,
મને મારા રામ ની લખવાની કળા પર Hope છે, અને મારા Hope
માં "H" કેપિટલ છે.
Recently
went out to see a great film written by a valuable friend Raam Mori. Raam is a
National award winning writer of Gujarati Literature. He is notable for his
short stories. Montu Ni Bittu is his Debut film as a Scriptwriter.
Well by the name of the film you can assume that it is a childhood romantic tale of Montu and
Bittu. Obviously the story spins around this two characters. We will perceive
what it could be that makes this film increasingly dynamic and different.
Montu Ni
Bittu explores the 'Pol' Culture of Old Ahemdabad.
We should
first see what is Pol?
A pol: પોળ in India is a housing cluster which
comprises many families of a particular group, linked by caste, profession, or
religion. Pols are typical of urban centers in Gujarat especially of Old
Ahemdabad. The atmosphere where all the families get together for small matters
or celebrations. The essence of this culture is very well captured in this
movie.
Every Character is Significant in this film. There is no additional
character in this film. All characters are equally significant for the film,
similar to each piece necessary in a Puzzle. Similar to this is the Pol
Culture where families get together and share all the phases of life.
Among actors my preferred artists separated from the lead on-screen actors were Saubhagya Lakshmi, Mohini and Samayara.
Mohini,a
die-hard aficionado of Madhuri Dixit beautifully entertains the audience with
famous dialgoues of Madhuri Dixit and Saubhagya Lakshmi,a die-hard fan of Mataji
like Jivantika Maa n Bhadrakali Maa. These two worked splendidly well in making the viewers refreshed with their humorous acting. Samayara is a really mature character in this film. One of the dialogue spoken by her which amazed me was,
"બંને સારા વ્યક્તિ છે,પણ એવું જરુરી નથી કે બે સારા વ્યક્તિઓ સારી રીતે સાથે જીવન જીવી શકે"
Slight satire
on Absurdism through the character of Abhinav can be felt. In this era, we see individuals around us love to call themselves absurd
and weird, particularly youths. It is a kind of a trend that weird and absurd
is special. Binary opposite to Abhinav is Bittu, common yet
extraordinary.
One new
phrase I learnt from this movie is “રાણી નો હજીરો”.Generally we have a habit to say
“What the f****” when we are angry, so “રાણી નો હજીરો ” means….. I guess…Hahaha
Music adds
more allure to the story. One of my favorite track is Gholu Gholu written by Milind
Gadhavi. Magnificent lyrics and Composition. Milind Gadhavi is a renowned
lyricist in Gujarati Cinema. Hats off!
I have read
many stories written by Raam like Mahotu and Coffee Stories. In all these stories
he depicts the feminine world exquisitely. Same thing we can see in his
depiction of Women Characters in this film. Splendid observation and understanding of Female World in stories written by a male author is Uncommon!
By and large
entirely PLEASURABLE Entertaining Family Film! Must Watch!
"મારે પણ તમને વિનય અને વિવેક થી કેહવુ છે કે આ પિકચર જોવા જરુરને જરૂર જાજો.... હે જીવંતિકા માં"
Kudos to Raam,
Vijaygiri Bawa Production and the entire team.
Good one bachchaa.
ReplyDeleteVaidehi, Well knit blog with lively examples. Looking forward to see this ethereal work of art. Raam has tasted the core concepts of rural cultural roots and exactly he is delivering it to the audience which is commendable. Bravo!
