The Great Shankaracharya....Really??? ha ha ha :-)

I was very happy to see the newspaper of April 8^th. In Mumbai the 400 year old tradition broke, Bombay High Court ruled in favour of women and allowed entry of female devotees in the sanctum sanctorum of Shani Shingnapur temple in Maharashtra. The Bombay High Court was considered a small victory in the struggle of gender equality.

But But But….

If women are allowed in the temple, how can everything be okay?

Just in less than 72 hours Shankaracharya of Dwaraka-Sharda Peeth, Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati took objection to women’s entry in Shani temple and sparked needless controversy.

“Women should not feel triumphant about visiting the sanctum sanctorum of Shani Shingnapur temple in Maharashtra. They should stop the entire drum beating about what they have done. Worshipping Shani will bring ill luck to them and give rise to crimes against them like rape,” Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati said.

Well it’s not so shocking but yes a bit shocking to see a saint talking like this. According to him, women will be raped if they worship Shanidev. If Shanidev is GOD then I guess he must protect women. The safety of Women is his responsibility.

Shankaracharya also cited worshipping Shirdi Sai Baba as the reason for the drought in Maharashtra. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati disapproved the worship of Sai Baba asking Hindus to removes his photographs and idols from temples.

Now what is a connection between worshipping Sai Baba and the severe drought in Maharashtra????? 

No doubt Swami Swaroopanand’s remark on women’s entry in temples is outrageous and appalling. What would he blame the crime against women all these years when the ban was in force? Why was he silent all these years when women faced lot of troubles? And suddenly he is so concern about women’s safety – only after they were allowed to enter the temple sanctorum.

I feel giving this kind of rubbish statement he himself has given an invitation of dangers for women. Anyone now will rape women and  will say it is fault of Shanidev or worshipping Shanidev. What if the crime against women increased due to him? Do the great scholar saint  have any answer about this.. 

Instead of wasting time on teaching society, Swami Swaroopanand’s should focus on doing good deeds in the last phase of his life. Or else, he will be remembered only for his ridiculous and atrocious remarks rather than his service for Hindu religion.

As it also said that in the old age either you think positive or you go insane.

 And I guess Shankaracharya is…….No need to say…

“Samajhdar ko Ishara kafi hai…”
